|No More Excuses: Educate Every Student!
Last week the Governor released a budget that failed to address inequality and will continue to set our schools up for more classroom cuts. Now it’s in the hands of our legislators – call on them to stand up for our students by including a $1.9 billion increase of school aid in their budget Send them a letter today!

High Quality Universal Pre-K… now!
This week, the joint Senate Finance & Assembly Ways and Means Committees heard testimony from people across the state. Yesterday, AQE’s Advocacy Director, Zakiyah Ansari, submitted testimony before these commitees, which included AQE’s position on pre-K: AQE supports New York City’s plan of paying it’s own way to full-day universal pre-K for every four-year-old by increasing income taxes for the city’s wealthiest– it’s a no brainer! Also, AQE is calling for a statewide investment of $225 million in the budget for universal full-day pre-K this year.
On Jan. 14, over 1,500 education advocates came to Albany to stand up for schools & demand a $1.9 billion investment in education this year. Each day until the budget comes out in March, AQE will be releasing a video or photo testimony from the day on our Facebook page, check them out here!
