The overwhelming efforts of students, parents, educators and advocates have resulted in a response from the Legislature, but unfortunately, the enacted budget doesn’t go far enough to move New York’s public education system in the right direction.
Our students deserve nothing short of a quality education and a bright future. We have a responsibility to keep up the fight to ensure a positive future for our children.
2012-2013 Education Campaign Highlights:
- Redirects $200 million of the proposed competitive grant funds to classroom aid
- Prioritizes high need districts
- Prevents back door cuts to Pre-K
- Legislature rejected cuts to early intervention services for children with special needs as well as to special education for pre-school children
