No, the state budget is NOT done, despite what you might have heard from Governor Hochul last week. That means there is still time to put pressure on our state leaders and legislators to do right by New York’s families and child care educators.
Our elected officials need to hear that the child care workforce can’t go another year without compensation. They need to hear that Child Care Assistance Program waitlists are impacting 34 counties PLUS New York City. And they need to hear that the Foundation Aid formula must be updated to ensure schools are able to meet their students’ growing needs.
That’s why we’re asking you to make 5 calls today: to your Assembly Member and Senator, and to the Assembly Speaker, Senate Majority Leader, and Governor.
First, call State Leaders…
Use the script below to call the “three people in the room” — Governor Hochul, Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie.
Governor Hochul
(518) 474-8390
Senate Majority Leader Stewart-Cousins
(518) 455-2715
Assembly Speaker Heastie
(518) 455-3791
…and then call your State Legislators
Once you make those three calls to leadership, use this script to call your own State Senator and Assemblymember.
