Governor Cuomo’s Cuts Are Hurting Black Communities

After a decade+ of cuts & underfunding, it’s clear that Governor Cuomo doesn’t care about Black communities.

New Yorkers are at a breaking point. Covid-19 didn’t cause the current crisis – it uncovered the massive economic disparity in our state. This runaway inequality is the result of years of Cuomo’s austerity budgets and his refusal to fund communities of color.

And even as millions of Black and Brown New Yorkers struggle to recover from the economic effects of the pandemic, the Governor refuses to tax his rich friends. As Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie take bold action to tax the wealthy few to fund essential needs for millions, Cuomo insists that no new sources of revenue are needed.

This is just not true, it is gaslighting at its worst, and it follows Cuomo’s pattern of prioritizing the needs of a few billionaires over the needs of the communities of color that he has failed for over a decade.

Enough is enough. Send Cuomo a letter now and demand that he finally Invest in OUR New York. New Yorkers need not a penny less than the $7 billion that the State Senate and Assembly included in their one house budgets.
